first ocean swim

Carter took a little dip in the ocean while my parents were here. I thought he would at least slow down when his feet touched the ice-cold water, but nothing was getting in the way of him and all that water! He didn't care too much that he was wet and cold, but he did care that we wouldn't let him do it again! He was so mad when we put him back in the stroller.

a fun filled weekend

My parents came to visit us!!! We had so much fun with them, especially Carter. He loves Grandma and Grandpa! Here he is eating a pickle at a restaurant in Cannon Beach.

This was at the Rose Garden. Carter wanted to go wading in the fountain.
He fell asleep in the stroller!!! I can't even remember the last time this happened!

This idea is from Sylvia and Barbara

I had to do this...I hope you all share a memory!!! Pretty please???

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you.

It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Happy Remembering!

Fit Jam 2008

Nautilus does this community event every year called Fit Jam. They have softball, football, rugby, and other tournaments that the community can participate in. They also have booths set up for different vendors and food and a band and much more. Lindsay and Brian came up to go with us and it was really fun! We got to see the Harlem All Stars (we thought they were the globe trotters but they weren't quite as cool, still entertaining though), we got free massages, and most importantly, we got to meet JET!!!!! If you're an American Gladiator fan like we are, you'll know exactly who I'm talking about. JET and CRUSH are our two favorite gladiators. Jet won the whole competition last season so now she's back as a gladiator. She's from Portland and she used to be a Bowflex model, I think that's how they had the connection to get her to Fit Jam. She's very pretty and skinny, that's why I'm not standing next to her. And Carter got his very own autographed picture of her! Later, Dennison played in the flag football tournament and his team played against a team full of ex-NFL players! They lost... weird, I know. He had a blast though and they live close by so he wants to be friends with them. It was a fun day.

Monkey boy

Carter has been teaching himself how to climb. Here's a couple examples of the trouble he's been getting into. This first picture doesn't quite show the situation as well as I hoped. He almost got his little feet all the way up on the footrest before I noticed what he was doing! And then, of course, I had to take a picture before putting him back on solid ground. And then later that day, he climbed up onto his folded stroller and then yelled to me until I came and got him down. He's such a daredevil!

growing up

Ever since we got Carter a forward facing car seat, his old one has just been hanging out on the office floor. He loves to climb in and just sit for about 5 minutes then he climbs back out. So I thought I would take the opportunity to show how much he's grown in the past 13 months! Everyone kept telling me that they grow up so fast and to enjoy them while they're little. I got kinda sick of hearing it. And now, I'll admit, I say it to mom's with brand new babies..... so I'm sorry to anyone who I've said it to recently, but it's TRUE! Just look how huge he is now!

The Rose Garden

Portland is famous for it's roses. We went down to check out the International Rose Test Garden where they grow all sorts of varieties and colors of roses. It was breath-taking! So so gorgeous. These are just a few pictures, but they don't do it justice.

Carter's favorite part was playing in the fountain. He kept trying to climb in.
They also have this really big cool playground. It started raining while we were playing but we were almost done anyways. It was a fun little Sunday afternoon activity.

the fountain

Over the weekend, we went downtown to the farmer's market. It was so hot! It got up to 101 degrees that day! After we walked around for a little while and made a few delicious purchases, we wondered over to the fountain. Poor Carter was so hot so we let him walk around in the water. He loved it! He would bend over and let the water spray on his face and he would just laugh. It was really cute and funny. It looks like he got sunburned but he was just hot.
