Carter had his 6 month appointment a couple weeks ago. He was really closer to 7 months, but whose counting. It was hard deciding what doctor to take him to since we don't know many people here but a girl in my ward referred me to her pediatrician and it turned out really good. Carter is a whopping 17 lbs 15 oz and 27 inches! He sure has grown and he finally made it into the 50th percentile for his weight and height (he's usually under for his weight and over for his height). The saddest part, of course was the shots. It was even worse than usual though! Instead of two nurses doing three shots, two at the same time and one really fast after, there was only one nurse doing four shots, one at a time. I swear it took her a full 2 minutes to do all of them. He would just get calmed down and she'd do another one. They should not allow that kind of slow shot-giving in a pediatricians office.... maybe for the 18 year-olds getting ready for their missions but not babies, come on! But somehow, we survived and he slept a lot the rest of the day.

Carter's new tricks
Carter has been so busy lately learning new tricks. First of all, he learned how to hold a bottle all by himself. He sometimes forgets that he has to tip it up in order to get anything out of it.
Then he learned how to sit all crazy in his high chair while mom tries to feed him. He always sticks his feet up over the tray and he gets mad when I move them back down where they're supposed to be.
He has also learned how to hold onto the couch or coffee table and stand up. He can't get there on his own yet, but if we stand him up like that, he'll stay there all day.
And his favorite trick of all is growing teeth! He's pretty proud of his very first tooth but it was hard to get a picture of it. If you look really close you can see it poking through. It's been a fun couple of weeks with all these new discoveries. I'm sure we're in for a lot more in the future but he's off to a great start, don't you think?!

meet Juanita Nikita Jones-Harris
So for my birthday, Dennison told me I could get a brand new little kitten. I've been looking online for free kittens ever since and a couple days ago I found her. Her ex-owner was calling her "Meeko" but it's obvious that her name was meant to be Juanita, so that's what we call her. I had forgotten how much energy kittens have!! She and Carter have been getting along so well. Carter chases her around the living room. She just sits and watches him scooting towards her and when he gets within a foot, she bolts to the other side of the room. Carter stops, regroups, and heads after her again. It's hilarious!! And she absolutely loves taking naps with Dennison!
